About me

I am an assistant professor at the Department of Peace and Conflict Research, Uppsala University. My dissertation research focused on the dynamics of rebel violence and governance in civil war. My current research interests include civilian agency in civil war, the causes of postwar violence, and the dynamics of electoral violence. Most of my research has examined the dynamics of violence in sub-Saharan Africa, particularly in Côte d’Ivoire, where I have done eight months of fieldwork. I employ both qualitative and quantitative methods, including comparative case studies, process tracing, and statistical techniques.
