– Floating cities are the future, says Dutch architect Koen Olthuis.

His vision is to make cities more dynamic in order to make them more easily adoptable for the future, including sea rise and more extreme weather. Through his non-profit Floating City Apps he hopes to help the world’s poor slums, particularly those that are located close to water.

– We found that a majority of the world’s slum are situated close to water, he explains. By designing floating city apps we can help those slums to get access to important services.
